Cohesion and Coherence - Academic Writing.
There are three qualities of effective paragraph 1. Unity - it important part of paragraph. 2. Coherence - you can achieve coherence by an orderly and logical arragement of idea.
To make your text strong, each paragraph, argument, and sample in your short essay has to support the main idea. Special emphasis should be made to the arguments of your short essay. They have to be in coherence with your main idea, be clear and simple. But also they should be persuasive and strong.
You can think of paragraphs as mini essays, discussing a single idea. They will vary depending on your academic discipline and the nature of your essay, but here is a good basic paragraph structure: 1 2 Your essay is a journey through your argument or discussion. Your paragraphs are stepping stones in that journey, and they build up.
This paragraph sounds like it is starting again with every sentence. Incorrect. This is better, but the last two sentences do not flow well from the first one. Incorrect. This is much better, but we can make a logical connection between the two sentences for greater coherence. Correct.
Then make sure that your thoughts are in line with the topic you have chosen. Remember that all sentences need to be completely logical. There should be 100% coherence between all the paragraphs in the academic essay in order for readers to follow the flow of your text easily. Find facts to include into your paragraph to actively support your idea.
Writing an academic essay means fashioning a coherent set of ideas into an argument. Because essays are essentially linear—they offer one idea at a time—they must present their ideas in the order that makes most sense to a reader. Successfully structuring an essay means attending to a reader's logic.
A coherent structuring of these two paragraphs would leave the last sentence off of the first paragraph and the third-to-last sentence off of the second paragraph. Then, both paragraphs would constitute an extended development of the first two inter-related parts of the paragraph bloc's topic sentence: But the germination, growth, and disease resistance of plants are adapted precisely to those.
